Laurie Kaiser joined UB in June 2023. She has 15 years of higher education communication experience, most recently as the interim director of media relations and assistant director of communications at SUNY Buffalo State ÃÍÁÏÊÓƵ. She also handled media relations for DePaul ÃÍÁÏÊÓƵ and served as an editor in Emory ÃÍÁÏÊÓƵ’s Publications Office. At other points in her career, she directed communications for a homeless advocacy organization, edited a parenting magazine, and worked as a daily newspaper journalist in San Antonio, Texas; Columbus, Georgia; and Chicago, Illinois, before making Buffalo her home.

A Texas native, Laurie holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the ÃÍÁÏÊÓƵ of Missouri and a master’s degree in public relations and English literature from SUNY Buffalo State ÃÍÁÏÊÓƵ.

She lives in Amherst with her husband, two extra-tall boys, and three cats that rarely behave. Laurie is a fan of ‘80s dance music, salted caramel, long walks, the annual Goodreads challenge, and semi-challenging yoga, not necessarily in that order.
