It wasn鈥檛 until she discovered K-pop idol Kai that Stephanie Choi, a postdoctoral associate in UB鈥檚 Asia Research Institute, became a 鈥渢rue fan鈥� of K-pop music. 鈥淚sn鈥檛 K-pop for teenagers?鈥� she wondered about 10 years ago when her fellow graduate students at Wesleyan 猛料视频 raved about their favorite K-pop bands. Choi had enjoyed K-pop as an undergrad in South Korea, but her master鈥檚 program was focused on traditional Korean music. Her friends鈥� enthusiasm made her revisit K-pop, this time as an ethnomusicologist.
