Gyeonggi Summer 2025

The Asia Research Institute is excited once again to host students and young professionals from Gyeonggi Province in Korea for a month-long program of experiential learning, English language education, and cross cultural understanding. 

Program overview

Outside of language class, the Korean students will experience campus life, be introduced to research activity at UB, and explore the Buffalo-Niagara region. Examples of afternoon and day-long activities in the experiential learning components of the program include:

  • Niagara Falls State Park
  • Buffalo AKG Art Museum
  • Niagara Power Project
  • Castellani Art Museum
  • Exploration of the Village of Lewiston
  • Canalside and Naval Park
  • Buffalo Bisons baseball game
  • Taste of Buffalo Festival
  • Food Truck Tuesdays at Larkinville
  • Riverworks 
  • UB Center for the Arts
  • UB Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences
  • Amberleigh Senior Living Community.
  • Kayaking on Lake LaSalle

A key component of the overall program will be daily interaction between Korean and American students, who will participate in activities on-campus and in the community as cultural liaisons. The liaisons will help the Korean students with their English language skills, introduce them to the Buffalo Niagara region, and provide unique, personal insights into life in the United States.

Outside of class and formal activities, the Korean students will experience campus life have opportunities to explore the Buffalo-Niagara region on their own time.
